Not sure which Windows? Almost every PC is 64-bit. The combined installer works on both kinds; it is just bigger.

Installing on a Mac

  1. Open the .dmg and drag Bocere into Applications. Eject the disk image.
  2. Open Applications and double-click Bocere. The first time, macOS will refuse, because the app is not yet signed with Apple. That is expected.
  3. On macOS 15 (Sequoia) or newer: open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom and press Open Anyway beside the message about Bocere.
  4. On macOS 14 or earlier: right-click the app in Applications, choose Open, then Open again.

If a Mac with an Apple chip calls the app "damaged", it is not. Open Terminal (Applications, then Utilities), paste xattr -cr /Applications/Bocere.app, press Return and open the app again. After that it opens like any other app.

Installing on Windows

  1. Double-click the Bocere-Setup file you downloaded.
  2. Windows will say "Windows protected your PC", because the app is not yet signed with Microsoft. That is expected. Press More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Follow the installer. When it finishes, open Bocere from the Start menu or the desktop.

First run. Press New Book, or Open Book if you already have a folder of chapters. Then click your name at the top of the sidebar, enter your email and type the six-digit code we send you. That signs you in once on this computer.

No automatic updates in this release: when there is a new build, come back here and install it over the old one. Your books are untouched. Every version is kept at github.com/justhurkledurkling-max/bocere-releases.
