Good to know
Do I need the AI assistant?
No. The app is complete without it, and the Free plan has none. Where it is available it is off by default: it writes nothing into your book until you allow it, and even then a sentence or two at a time, never a chapter. It never changes your text by itself: every change is a suggestion you accept or reject, and every word of its own that you keep is counted in a ledger kept with the book.
How does assistant credit work?
Credit comes in packs: $8 of use for $10, or $21 of use for $25, paid on Stripe's secure page. Each pack lasts six months, and every reply shows what it cost. On Limited the assistant is unlimited for your first 30 days and runs on credit after that; on Pro, credit is used once the month's allowance runs out.
How does Limited work?
Limited is a one-time $49.99 download. Your account stays Limited for good: unlimited books and the publish-ready files. For your first 30 days the assistant is unlimited; after that it runs on credit packs you buy when you need them.

Claude, made by Anthropic.
What counts as a book of your own?
A book you make or bring in. Books you edit for someone else never count. A book stays yours whatever plan you are on later: you can always open, write in and print every book you already have.
Can more than one person use the Free plan on the same computer?
The Free plan is one account per computer: the first Free account to sign in on a computer uses it. Another Free account signing in there is asked to choose Limited or Pro. Limited and Pro accounts can be used on any computer.
Where are my books kept?
On your own computer. A book is a folder, and every page is a plain file inside it. You can back it up, move it, or keep it in Dropbox or iCloud, and writing works offline.
What does Pro cost?
$99.99 to download, which is your first 30 days of Pro; the $19.99 monthly subscription starts on day 31. You sign up for both in one checkout and pay only the $99.99 today. Already on Limited? The download is $50.00, because your $49.99 counts toward it. Pro adds theme-focused AI assistants, the cover art generator, a monthly assistant allowance and support from H.D. Publishing. If you cancel the subscription, the cover art generator stays yours.
Can I cancel Pro?
Yes, any time. Cancel within your first 30 days and the $19.99 is never charged; Pro runs to the end of those 30 days. Otherwise a cancelled subscription runs to the end of the month you paid for. After that your account is Limited, and you keep the cover art generator you bought with Pro: the app, unlimited books, the publish-ready files and cover art stay yours, and the assistant runs on credit packs.
Is support included?
Pro includes support from H.D. Publishing. Free and Limited come without support or guidance: the app, and the files it makes.
Does it work on Windows?
