Old cloth-bound classics on a wooden bookshelf.

Our software

All the world’s a page.

Bōcere is the writing software H.D. Publishing makes: desktop apps for essays and books, where nothing changes your words until you say so.

Why we built it

Your words, on your own computer.

Our editors and authors work in Bōcere every day, and anyone can use it on their own.

Books and essays are plain files on your disk, readable in any text editor, even if you stop using the app. An editor or an AI can suggest a change; only you accept it, and a rejected change leaves your sentence exactly as you wrote it. Scribe shows you the printed page while you write, then makes the print PDF and ebook file when you are ready.

Bōcere Scribe with a chapter of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland open on a 6 by 9 inch book page, the chapter list on the left and the Proof Book and Publish buttons at the top.
Bōcere Scribe: you write on the printed page.

The cast

Three apps, one way of working

Prices as they will be at launch. Bōcere is not for sale yet; join the waitlist on bocere.app.

Bōcere Student · essays

MLA, APA or plain, with Word and PDF export. Your own AI can read and comment but never type into your essay, and the app keeps a record you can hand in. $29 once.

Bōcere Scribe · books

Write, edit and format your book on your own computer, see the printed page as you go, and send it to an editor whose changes come back for you to accept or reject. Free to start; License $99 once.

Bōcere Scholar · blogs and newsletters

Everything in Scribe, plus a blog and a newsletter in the same window. Newsletter issues go out as drafts; the app never sends. In development; pricing on request.
